What is the significance of Thranduil walking in the trailer...? I just saw the dude walking, is it because hes hot?
No, though admittedly it was very exciting to finally see some footage of my baby in his armor.
Thranduil has a very tragic past, and based on his actions in both film and book versions, it is incredibly likely that he has some form of post-traumatic stress disorder. When Thranduil was still a young prince, he followed his father King Oropher into The Battle of Dagorlad. Mirkwood was not properly armed, and thanks to Oropher’s decision to charge first without the call from Gil-galad, he and approximately two thirds of the Mirkwood army were killed. Thranduil lost his father, and almost all of his soldiers, most of which he probably knew personally and grew up alongside. It is rumored that once he returned home with what was left of the army, his mother the queen faded of grief, and Thranduil was crowned King of Mirkwood.
Thranduil knows about loss. Thranduil knows about the horrors of war. In that clip from the trailer, he is walking among the dead of his own people. This time, he is responsible. This time, he is the one that led them to their death- not Oropher. His son is probably still missing after leaving to find Tauriel. It is highly possible that he is looking at the bodies, praying that he’s not going to see Legolas’ face among them.
I need a Thranduil and Legolas hug in the movie now like I really need it
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies- Elves
aaaa that clip of thranduil walking around alone admist the piles of dead really really hurts……;________;
because i know he might he looking for his son, and for sure he’s seeing his own people, perhaps friends and others he has fond memories with, cold and dead before his feet…..
and also mainly because it reminds me so much of this…
elronduil is my otp but…..thorinduil is rather special to me too…..=________=
I was trying to draw something related to the trailer but i ended up with a crying Bilbo hahah NOPE.
So I stoped that and focused on legolas and tauriel hiding from Thranduil because they’re still fugitive elves.

Now I want to read a fic when Legolas first realizes Thranduil is a badass warrior. I mean, when he was little he must have heard stories but probably he mostly saw King Thranduil as a politician and ruler, less so someone who knows his way around combat.
So when did little Legolas find out? I need this fic in my life!
